Rooms with no visible storage, no radiators, no power outlets and no evidence that anyone lives in them. Lovely to look at, no help at all when you are standing in your own hallway wondering where the shoes are supposed to go.
What this site is
This is a room-by-room decorating blog for real homes. Rented apartments where you cannot paint. Kitchens with not quite enough counter space. Bedrooms that get no morning light. Hallways three feet wide. Every idea here is written with the assumption that you have a budget, a landlord, or both.
Posts are organized by room rather than by style, because that is how decorating actually happens — one space at a time, usually starting with whichever one is annoying you most this month.

How the advice is written
Three rules guide every post. First, the cheapest fix goes first — if clearing a counter solves the problem, that gets said before anything you have to buy. Second, trade-offs get named. Open shelving looks wonderful and collects grease above a stove; you deserve to know both halves. Third, if something only works under specific conditions — good daylight, a warm-toned floor, a particular ceiling height — that condition is stated rather than quietly assumed.
